Moana | Review

I know I am a little late to the party but I just saw the movie Moana. I loved it so much, I had to write a thorough review.

Premise:

The movie begins with the story of the Polynesian demigod Maui who is a shapeshifter, steals the heart of te fiti, an earth goddess. Which is a small green stone, and when Maui chose to skip the island large darkness comes over the island. And then it goes to an older woman telling Young children about the legend on the island of Motunui. And the rest of the story is about a young girl named Moana. Moana is a spunky, confident, and ambitious young lady. And the movie is about her adventures in trying to find Maui and have him return the heart to Te fiti.

There are many things I liked about one or so I'll break it down so it's easier to read.

Pros:

The Storyline:

First of all, the story begins with Moana's grandmother. She is telling the young children of the village about the legend of Maui and how he stole the heart of te fiti. Te fiti is an earth goddess, she creates all the islands, plants, etc. she's the first goddess and she created life when the earth was just an ocean. The powerful demigod  The rest of the movie is about returning Te Fiti's heart. Now, I'm not an expert on Polynesian folklore. however, after watching Moana I got an interest in their mythology

This story about Moana and her adventures has so much heart. Her bravery and stubbornness is something I relate to. I can be bull-headed too. Moana's bull-headedness is something that gets her to where she needs and that is so inspiring. This movie made me laugh, cry, and sing. In my opinion, they have beaten frozen. It's probably because I relate to Moana, I feel called to the ocean and our personalities are very similar.

The Characters:

Moana:

Moana is a spunky teen who loves adventure, the sea, and her people. She is the chief's daughter who is being trained to become chief one day. Ever since she was a little girl, the ocean has called her to it. She always longed to go out to sea and explore. However, her father forbids it for the islander's safety. So she keeps getting in trouble for trying to sail. Although, she tries to break her father's rules; she has a lot of heart and will do what's right. That's one thing we really like about Moana. We also love her animal friends hei-hei and pua. You mostly see hei-hei in the movie but, we still love pua.

Maui:

Maui The shape-Shifter, the hero of all is a sarcastic and funny demigod. However, he is heroic both in stature and deeds, he has a big ego. He is a little narcissistic, cares mostly about himself and his hook. later he becomes more likable as he becomes good friends with Moana. He has a big ego and also a big heart.

The Body Types:

Finally! Disney has created realistic body types! I know there has been some conspiracy with Maui. However, it may be offensive to the islanders. But, what people need to realize they only meant to make him look larger than life, heroic even. can't really do that with a skinny guy, can you? Maui is supposed to be big and heroic, skinny guys don't look like they can save the world, do they? Also, people always complain about the overly skinny people in Disney movies, and here is a bigger character and people are complaining that he is promoting obesity to be ok. He isn't. It's just that he was meant to be built like a strong man. If you look at actual strong men you will notice they are built like this. Of course, his body is a little over-exaggerated which is what cartoons tend to do, which is fine. Not all are but lots are.
Our society tells men and women alike that they shouldn't like how they look if they aren't the perfect weight or have muscles. Let's stop that and encourage each other. Love not to hate. We are all humans, and we all need people to back us up.

This is Eddie Hall, He's a strong man. He looks like he's fat, but he is actually very muscular, he can pull cars and deadlift 1,102.3 lb! so see Maui is a strong man, not fat. Controversy debunked. Anyway, Moana has an athletic build in which we don't see much in Disney Princesses. I love that she has the body of a woman who can take care of herself. I couldn't stress enough that diversity in race, color, size in characters is important and they did this in Moana and I am pleased.

The Animation:

The one thing I was in awe the whole time about was the animation. The hair, water, plants, etc. moved so realistically and with grace. I loved the quality so much. Also, you can see them breathing! I thought that was so cool, that brought them that much more to life. I can't wait to see more of what is to come with animation from Disney.

Cons:

The only negative thing I could muster is that they were inaccurate with some of Maui's mythology. from what I read on the internet. However, in movies, you can't really stick exactly to the mythology especially since some of Maui's story is a bit morbid.

Conclusion:

As a Disney fan, I was very pleased with this movie, almost everything about it was perfect in my opinion. I hope it is the new frozen. I can't wait to see more of what Disney has to offer for this new generation.

Thanks for reading and please like and comment it lets me know your opinions and that you like it.

Have a magical day!

Should Kida Be An Official Princess?

For 17 years now, Atlantis has touched the hearts and imaginations of Disney fans. One character stood out the most, the princess of Atlantis Kida or Kidagakash. We fans have wanted Kidagakash to become an official Disney Princess. So the question is, should Kida become an official Disney princess? There are a few points I'd like to make to prove my point. Kindness kida in her whole on the screen has been nothing but kind to the Atlantians as well as people outside of her culture. she does everything in her power to protect her people and keep them thriving as a culture. she is the exact description of a princess and the kindness she should have. Brave Same as Merida, she is brave in all of her endeavors. Even in one scene, she kicks some butt when the mercenaries attacked her, she could have died. Independent Just like Merida, Jasmin, Tiana, etc. She is independent and can handle things herself. She is a warrior, a princess, and a survivor. Does she fit the criteria Disney require

What a Loki TV show?  Just so you know there are minor spoilers to Avengers end game ahead. Like Thor, fans everywhere have been saying "Loki isn't dead!"
