Beauty and The Beast | Review

Tale as old as Time, Tune as old as song, Beauty, and the Beast was an amazing visually, musically, and in the story. This fan favorite has been long awaiting this live action remake for a while. Also, People have been trying to get Disney to cast the beautiful Emma Watson as Belle, and they were right. She was the perfect casting choice for Belle. So was Dan Stevens (Beast), Luke Evans (gaston), Josh Gad (LeFou), etc.

Warning: minor spoilers ahead!

The Music:

Oh my goodness, the music! All the original songs are included in this live-action remake and more! more you ask? Well, they popped in a couple original songs to the plate and they are fantastic. In my opinion, some songs were sung better than the cartoon. I had no idea that Luke Evans could sing or Any of them for that matter. Boy, could they sing! I loved the music so much I listen to the soundtrack every day. I literally can't stop singing Gaston's song. My what a guy that Gaston! However, there is a lot of use of auto-tune with Belle's voice. With someone who doesn't know what that sounds like, It's where you here a sort of robotic transition from one note to the other. Most cannot tell its there, it's just one small technical thing that I noticed. That part is only in a small section of the song "Belle". Don't get me wrong I love Emma, and she has a lovely voice. She may have had a hard time hitting that one note in "Belle" and it is hard to hit that note so I completely understand.

The Visuals:

The visuals of the movie were utterly stunning. The French Baroque architecture in the castle is gorgeous! Doesn't it remind you of Cogsworth's joke in the original? "If it isn't baroque don't fix it", I still laugh at that. In the baroque era of France, every castle was decorated in this big dramatic fashion. There are real life examples in the palace of Versailles.

I am so glad they stayed as accurate as they did with French fashion, culture, makeup, architecture, decor. It is amazing. Another thing I really enjoyed were the workers of the castle. They were designed so well into what french palace furniture would look like in that era.

as someone who studied french art and culture in the baroque era, I really can see these as being in that era. I am very pleased. The details in animation, fashion, architecture, and much more were amazing. Lastly, the lighting did the mood wonders. For sad or scary parts there were deep, dark lighting and all colors are downplayed for a more sinister or sad look. for happy moments everything had bright colors and the lighting was bright. I love how the mood was portrayed in many different ways. no complaints here.

The Story:
The story was so amazing, as is the original. However, we get a little more in this movie. We learn more about Belle's mother! We learned she died of a plaque, most likely the black death. Since in the era they were portraying, it's the most likely explanation. It was so sad to see but, it was necessary cause all we got from knowing about her mother is that Maurice in the original movie, he says he misses her. also, we know she looks a lot like Belle. We know this cause Maurice says so and there is a painting in Belle's house in Walt Disney World in Florida of her mother.

However, there is one thing they still didn't resolve for us die-hard fans. What is Beast's name? I mean that's what they call him cause he never mentions it. I know most people think its Adam. However, this is not cannon. It was on a game that was not made by Disney's, and the makers have denied it. They DID say that they realized later in production in the original that they never gave him a name, they just simply called him beast. I just wish they would give us his name finally, it's kind of unfair we have to call him what he is not. I was hoping the whole time he would say his true name. maybe there is a clue somewhere that I didn't notice but I will either have to go back and watch it closely or wait till it comes out on DVD.

The "controversy":

This so-called "controversy" about LeFou being a gay character, was blown WAY out of proportion. LeFou has always been a bit feminine and flamboyant. The only somewhat gay moments are is LeFou gets a little too close to gaston in a couple brief moments, and at the end, a guy bumps into LeFou while everyone is dancing. There were no man on man kissing at all, no hugging, just him having no consideration for people's personal bubbles. not just towards gaston but everyone in the bar during the song "gaston". and maybe if you're speculating or reading too far into this scene, there is also the part when the town invades Beast's castle and the dresser attacks three men and she puts them in women's clothing. Which was obviously meant to be funny. I think that this was blown out of proportion.

The Wardrobe:

The costumes were really beautiful, even when belle was in her normal attire. I absolutely loved her ballgown.

I don't know if some are accurate to french attire but it's pretty anyway.

Dan Stevens:

I had to add in this handsome man. As you may or may not know Dan Stevens is Beast. He also was in the ever popular BBC classic "Downton Abbey" Its an addicting british drama about Upper-class family. It may sound boring but its actually really good. I have finished the whole show and I loved it with all my heart. and i loved Dan's character Matthew.

Thank you so much for reading tell me what you thought of the movie in the comments. Have a Magical Day!

Should Kida Be An Official Princess?

For 17 years now, Atlantis has touched the hearts and imaginations of Disney fans. One character stood out the most, the princess of Atlantis Kida or Kidagakash. We fans have wanted Kidagakash to become an official Disney Princess. So the question is, should Kida become an official Disney princess? There are a few points I'd like to make to prove my point. Kindness kida in her whole on the screen has been nothing but kind to the Atlantians as well as people outside of her culture. she does everything in her power to protect her people and keep them thriving as a culture. she is the exact description of a princess and the kindness she should have. Brave Same as Merida, she is brave in all of her endeavors. Even in one scene, she kicks some butt when the mercenaries attacked her, she could have died. Independent Just like Merida, Jasmin, Tiana, etc. She is independent and can handle things herself. She is a warrior, a princess, and a survivor. Does she fit the criteria Disney require
